How do I perform a compliance check on Recomentor?
The general compliance check workflow can be broken up into the following stages:
Select Company Name: Enter the name of the company of interest.
Select Report: Select the chosen company's ESG report to use for benchmarking.
Select Framework: Choose the ESG framework to adhere to.
Select Peers: Decide which peers to compare with by selecting your desired Peer Filter settings.
Gap Analysis: View the results of your analysis in the Compliance Check tab with respect to the Coverage, Specificity, and Ambition indicators. You can also switch to the Risks & Opportunities tab to see the results for the remaining indicators (Risks and Opportunities).
What should I do if a company is not listed in the database?
If you can't find a company in the database, navigate to the Reports tab and click the Add company button. Fill out the information in the dialog and click Add to add the company to the list. The custom company can then be searched via the search bar or by using advanced filtering options. For more details visit the Managing Companies and Reports help page.
What should I do if an ESG report is not listed in the database?
You can add a report to an existing company by locating the corresponding company in the list on the Reports tab. Hover over the year of the missing report (indicated by a strikethrough font) and click on the Upload button.
This will open an Upload Report window in which you can attach the file of the missing report and paste its URL in the Link to Document field. Choose the Document Type from a drop-down menu and specify the Document Name and the Document Year.
Note
Although there is no progress bar to indicate this, uploading your report to Recomentor may take up to five minutes as it’s converted to plain text, split into paragraphs, and analyzed using PoolParty for ESG concept extraction. This creates a semantic footprint that helps assess the report’s ESG alignment.
For more details, refer to the Managing Companies and Reports help page.
How can I interpret the compliance check results?
The results of your compliance check will show your company’s ESG compliance score compared to highest and lowest performing industry peers, broken down into Environment, Social, and Governance segments. The individual categories in those segments are based on the chosen ESG framework. Furthermore, you can view your results in terms of calculated indicators. For more details, visit the Performing a Compliance Check section in our Quick-Start Guide.
What do the provided indicators mean?
Perform Compliance Checks for any company of interest: With Recomentor you can perform gap analysis against ESG frameworks and peer organizations. You can analyze your company's compliance using the following calculated indicators:
Coverage: evaluates how prominently specific ESG concepts are discussed in your reports.
Specificity: measures the depth and detail of your ESG reporting.
Ambition: assesses how ambitious your ESG goals are relative to industry standards.
Risks and Opportunities: identifies predefined risks and opportunities present in your reports.
Users can leverage these indicators to identify improvement opportunities and prioritize ESG initiatives with the highest potential impact.

How can I filter peers during my compliance check?
To select a peer group to benchmark against you must select a company, a report, and an ESG framework. Then you can select the Add Peers button next to the Peer Filters label. This will open a dialog in which you can specify a Peer Classification System and corresponding Activities or industries. You can also select peers based on Geographical Area or Exchange (stock exchange type). Enabling Advanced Company Filters allows you to filter by a minimum amount of employees, total revenue, turnover, total assets, stock price (EOD), and market cap. Once you have selected your peer group, click Next to continue to the next page which gives you an overview of the reports selected for each peer company. You can also change this selection of reports if desired. After all required filer parameters have been set, click on the Apply button at the bottom of the window.
For more information, refer to the Selecting a Peer Group section in our Setting Parameters for a Compliance Check help page.
